Fall Line Cardigan

knitting pattern

RELEASE DATE: 7 November 2024

A modern take on a classic silhouette, the Fall Line Cardigan is an open cardigan with a ribbed shawl collar and matching rib on the body and the sleeves. The more-ish, simple stitches knit in bouncy DK weight wool are the perfect balance of easy knitting, interesting and intuitive, just-one-more-row, knitting.

YARN WEIGHT: DK

NEEDLE SIZE: 4.5mm / US 7

GAUGE: 20 sts x 28 rows

I found the pattern very engaging throughout the process. It’s not a simple pattern, but completely satisfying to go through each section step by step. With body and sleeves, it felt like magic when I came to the full ribbing and it all lined up correctly!! I am so pleased with the final fit, I look forward to wearing this garment often in the future.

It was my first time knitting a cardigan and even though I had moments of feeling overwhelmed from a lack of experience, I think the instructions provided, breaking things down into steps, was helpful as a less experienced knitter and gave me the knowledge/confidence to complete the test despite my initial fear when getting to the chart. I really do love it so much and I’d love to make it again.

The cardi was a love at first sight, I love the pattern and the finished cardi 💜 I love how the pattern is elaborated to the last detail, explaining everything.

~ Zuzka (test knitter)

This is a highly enjoyable garment to knit. The shawl collar construction, the mix of stockinette and ribbing, that both familiar and new skills are needed all make this a great process knit. The finished garment is well fitted and comfortable to wear which means a wardrobe staple.

Love the finished garment and loved knitting from the pattern. I am a very seasoned knitter and this pattern made me think AND taught me a few new tricks. It was easy without being boring.

    construction

The cardigan is worked flat, from the top down, seamlessly working both the collar trim and the stockinette body at the same time with raglan style shaping. The decorative, traveling, 2-stitch cables separate the upper stockinette section of the cardigan with the 2×2 ribbing of the lower section. Sleeves are worked in the round with the same crossing stitch and ribbed pattern, which lines up perfectly with the body pattern.

Timeless design, intentional shaping, several options for sleeve fit and simple finishing means the Fall Line Cardigan will fit both you and your wardrobe perfectly!

Pattern includes shaping map and progress charts for each size, both written and charted stitch pattern with tutorials to match, construction overview and modification notes, finished garment measurements and schematic, and instructions for both straight and tapered sleeves.
